Men’s Wardrobe Basics

For every man who cares about his appearance, we have identified a few core items which will enable him to stay in style this year and well into the future. You will present a dependable but never static look with these staples regardless of the occasion. These are the five all important elements every man needs in his wardrobe - your own unique style will determine how you build on these basics:

White Shirt - A classic in all senses, a white shirt can be easily altered from smart to casual and worn all day and into the night. It suits all ages and will show off that summer tan. It can be worn with a suit for formal events or with the sleeves rolled up and top button left open over a pair of jeans. Your white shirt will also look great with a blazer and tie. If you feel it suits your shape, wearing the slim fit is what is “in”, but no matter your size or body type, keep your white shirt looking crisp, ironed, and as white as new fallen snow.

Dark jeans - Indigo jeans are an essential part of any modern man’s wardrobe and are far more versatile than other styles. Customizing your appearance is easily done by adding other items to dress them up or down. Other fashion pieces will add spice to your look when you’re sporting your dark jeans depending on how you want to express yourself.

Grey suit - This not only matches the 2010 trend, it is also an item that allows you to customize your look to complement your personal style. It is perfect for an interview or a meeting but can also go casual with a t-shirt and sandals. Partnered with v-neck t-shirt, the jacket is ideal for a night on the town.

V-neck sweater - If you really want to invest, choose cashmere and wool. This will allow you to wear this item year around. You will feel the quality of this item as you wear it and it will hang more flatteringly on your frame. You can put a t-shirt on underneath and see how the layering really adds to the style. People can tell the cut and shape of a well-made sweater and you can never go wrong with cashmere.

Trench coat - Trench coats are more fashionable now than ever before thanks to the re-envisioned 2010 fashions. They are both more fashionable and more fashion flexible. They are in vogue now worn with career clothes or distressed denim and everything in between. The trench coat is the elegant jacket every man needs in his wardrobe that can make any look complete.

Some Of The Clothing In Different Departments

In most clothing stores and department stores, there are different sections for different people. For example, men will find pants in the mens section, women will find blouses in the womens section, boys will find shorts in the boys section, and girls t shirts will be found in the girls section. Here is some information on the clothing found in each one.

Ties and other clothing for men can be located in their section. This department is typically split up into two sections, one for casual attire, like jeans, t-shirts, and shorts, and the other for formal attire such as jackets, pants, suits, and other work related and professional clothes.

Women find various things in their department. Besides clothing, sometimes jewelry is also put into that section. Women are able to find blouses, pants, dresses, skirts, belts, and other accessories there. The sizing for clothes is sometimes numerical, such as the smallest ones being a zero or a two, the standard small ones being a four or a six, mediums averaging out to be an eight, and the larger ones being any higher number.

Some younger women like to shop in the juniors section. The age range is usually fourteen to twenty five. The sizes there are the standard small, medium, large, and above.

Casual clothing for boys is what is found in their department. This one has school appropriate clothes in it typically. You probably will see mothers in this section shopping for clothes for their sons.

Shirts for girls come in the trendiest styles in their department. Each season there are new styles added to match the current trend and popular colors. For example, when the weather starts getting a little warmer, you will find a lot of cotton tops that are lightweight in the current vibrant colors for the season. When the weather is colder, tops are usually found in more muted colors that are thicker.

Other than the season trends, girls shirts often have the current popular culture things on them. When particular TV shows, movies, and characters get popular, their name, image, logo, and phrase are put onto their clothing. In this department, ones that are family friendly and more wholesome are usually found.

That was some info on clothing by each department. Each one is meant for a certain age range and gender. Each will have fashionable clothes for the time.

Pick The Best Men’s Sweater For You

There is nothing more dashing than a well dressed man in a sweater. Then again, an ugly sweater can completely ruin a man’s look.  In order to prevent yourself from making a sweater blunder, read the four descriptions of common sweaters below, and then see what type of sweater will flatter you most. Remember a men’s sweater can either make or break your look.

1.) Turtleneck Sweater.  Nice and warm, these sweaters are often spotted during cold spells.  With a high neck to keep you from being chilled, these can create a very distinguished look under a corduroy blazer or suede jacket.  In the right circumstances, you can sport your sweater to informal occasions, and fancy social gatherings.
2.) Crew-Neck Sweater.  A more casual style, this men’s sweater is a nice option for those who don’t care for the high collar of a turtleneck .  Crew-neck sweaters are good summer sweaters, although you can upgrade to a woolen, cold weather model.  Wearing a shirt with a collar underneath offers a way to dress these up.
3.) V-Neck Sweaters.  You’ll recognize the V-neck by it’s collar, which forms the shape of a V, of course.  V-necks are a good option if you are seeking a slightly more informal look.  It can be dressed up if worn with khakis, and can be dressed down if worn with jeans, or shorts.
4.) Sweater Vest.  Not necessarily the most fashionable look, sweater vests do provide a nice option for when a cold front passes through. This sweater looks great with jeans, but you might want to try dressing it up with a pair of khaki pants.
Sweaters can be an excellent fashion choice for almost any man.  It makes you look elegant, classy, and refined.  You can wear it with a collared shirt underneath, or you can wear it with a blazer on top if you want it to look a bit dressier.  In general it is best to go for darker sweater colors, or a nice heather or grey tone.  Colorful sweaters are nice, but they do not always turn out to be the best option.   They tend to jump out and take away from your entire outfit.  Also, sometimes they can come across as juvenile.  Colorful accents to your sweater do not hurt, though, if you are a fan of dramatic colors.
Regardless of whether you go with a turtle neck, a crew-neck, v-neck, or a sweater vest, remember to keep it simple.  The mens sweater is classic and has truly not changed a great amount through the decades.   Sweaters can be worn during all seasons and every man should have at least a few sweaters in their arsenal of clothing.

Adult Male Fashion Should Be Timeless

Everyday we are presented with the slightly terrifying prospect of presenting ourselves to the world through the prism of our clothes. Our clothes tell people who we are, what we think about our bodies and trends happening in the world.

The largest slice of the fashion industry pie is devoted to women and creating a rainbow of flavors and designs to fulfill the every whim in a woman’s mind. What about men?

As teenagers, you can see men playing with fashion and their identities but it is strictly within the rigid confines of already established trends. Jean skinny styles encasing the small legs of emo-boys or the oversized slouchy styles of the hip hop genre. Emulating your favorite musician should be the pastime of children and teens. What about adulthood?

Once the overly flamboyant fashions of the Victorian era passed, men’s clothing styles have followed similar and fundamental rules that look fresh and stylish decade after decade. Three piece suits, vests, dress shirts, polo shirts, slacks, cashmere and even leather jackets are all timeless pieces that any man can adopt. The most important facet of these pieces is their fit- it cannot be overstressed that the defining characteristic of a great outfit is the tailoring involved fitting an individual’s body.

Like Kathryn and Audrey Hepburn being held aloft as female style icons, there are a number of inspirations from the past that men can acquire ideas from. The reason that the Hepburn women remain stylish to this day was because they found clothing that worked for them and their bodies without falling prey to any strange fashions of the day. The leather brown boots of Johnny Depp or the impeccable suits of Cary Grant all work to add to the sum total of these men’s parts.

Allow your clothes to speak with you and your personality, rather than broadcasting messages that don’t apply to who you are. A man who knows himself and doesn’t fawn over being fashion forward is extremely attractive.

Accessorizing with a hat, a men’s sport watch, or even the fabric of a well-cut blazer can add something to any outfit. For men, the goal is to keep fashion simple and clean, nodding to the past and finding in it the keys a personal style that will last lifetime. Playing with trends is encouraged but should be thought of as gilding the lily of your everyday established sartorial identity.

How fashion is coping in the recession

Now that were in deep in the recession with many businesses making cuts back and closing down, how has this effected the world of fashion? Where some have been using the best materials known to man at a huge cost, now have to use a cheaper material and try to achieve the same stunning effect as the costly material. Some designers have thrived under the pressure, using it as a inspriation to create unique and unusual designer clothes. Where there was money used to solve a problem before is now being solved with creative solutions, which gives them some inspired works. They seem to be tapping into the zeitgeist of the times and have stopped showing thier collections at overtly flashy fashion shows. Designers are now having smaller functions to showcase their collections or one to one meetings with fashion editors or buyers, getting rid of alot of the extravagance. Desginers are either targetting the general public with smaller price tags on their wares, or the rich, who can afford to continue their big spending.

Shops like Debenhams has reported that their designer ranges have actually seen a boost in sales with womens and mens fashion. Where shoppers are actually thinking wisely about their purchases and buying clothing that is high end in everything expect the price tag. The retail store announced a double digit growth in sales going upto xmas while sales and profit are increasing while the compnay try to reduce its debt.

The demand in America and Europe was dropped, in the Middle East demand has risen. So desingers have started focusing on the Middle East market to gain back the lost revenue from the American and European markets.

People arent spending as much on clothing as they once did- but the important thing is that their still spending. The deisngers are using the credit crunch as a challenge to create great clothes rather than letting it stifile their creativity.
