I Want to Become a Medical Transcriptionist

I want to become a medical transcriptionist for four specific reasons: (1) I would like to remain at home with my three (3) children (Ages: 13, 10, 3); (2) I would like to provide a service in the medical field; (3) I would like to contribute financially to my household; (4) long-term career opportunity. Prior to considering the field of Medical Transcription I spent time working with the elderly through a home care facility. I really enjoyed working with my clients; however, the various times which were required were challenging and unfortunately I had to resign my position with the firm. The primary advantage of working in the MT industry is twofold; first, the opportunity to medical transcriptionist work at home and second, the opportunity to continue building on my relationships with my family.

The innumerable activities among all of my family members, the time management of various schedules, and essentially life in a household of five will all be more effectively administered with the flexibility of medical transcription jobs at home. I am enjoying the time I have to spend at home with all of my children. A majority of time is dedicated during the daytime to my three (3) year old son. The after school hours are dedicated to all three children; however, with homework, dance, and all of the other activities I am blessed with an opportunity to work from home while contributing financially to my household. I have found during my stay at home time that my choice to stay home was the best for my family and me and I really would like to continue my stay at home status while developing a career in the medical field. Additionally, the statement that there is a shortage of over 300,000 qualified Medical Transcriptionists worldwide according to AHDI is an added incentive. Moreover, the flexibility of hours working on assignments is a terrific bonus to this career. Finally, the ability to complete work assignments while managing my household, spending the requisite and necessary time with my husband and all of my children while subsequently providing a generous income to my house is a wonderful blend of blessings.

I am interested in training with Future MT for several reasons: (1) my lack of medical field experience; (2) the information available on the website is impressive; (3) the access to substantial resources who are willing to work with newly trained MT professionals; (4) Future MT is recognized by the BBB; (5) Future MT is accredited and a nationally recognized online education course (6) scholarship opportunity; (7) money back guarantee; (8) Access to a trained transcriptionist who will answer any questions that I may have during the course. The balance among my criteria listed and the benefits of working from home all equal a great opportunity to fulfill many goals with laser like precision. SN:0MA9N2ESY

The Medical Transcriptionist training offers a person the opportunity to build a business in the medical field. Although there are many different home based businesses available I have found that the medical field has been “calling” me for several years. A personal story has to do with caring for a relative with Alzheimer’s which I found to be challenging and rewarding simultaneously. And my later job working with elderly through the at home care program. Essentially, the prospect to work in the medical field while building my own business is exciting and most certainly will provide satisfaction and rewards beyond comprehension. I envision the transition from learning the skills of transcription to mastery. I envision developing relationships within the medical field which will allow me to build a thriving and successful transcriptionist business within the next 5 years. The following 5 years with be devoted to the growth through employing other transcriptionists who will be directed to Future MT for training in the medical transcriptionist field. I look forward to learning, developing, and mastering the transcription skills with the help and dedication of Future MT.

I want to be a medical transcriptionist

I want to be a medical transcriptionist because I just became the bread winner of our family. I am a practicing general pediatrician in our province - Quezon Province from the Philippines. Our country is one of the third world country found in the Pacific. My husband was an architect but because of Diabetes, he has just lost both his legs and is now being maintained for dialysis three times a week. He is now a stay at home husband with very minimal source of income because he is confined to his wheelchair and he suffers from a lot of post-dialysis side-effects that he can no longer contribute to our family’s’ finances. We need at least $1,500 to $2000 for his dialysis and medicines which is not supported by our government because of corrupt politicians and because of the financial burden of maintaining his medical needs and providing for our kids education, I have to look for another means of income that will be in some way connected to my present career.

I believe that being a online medical transcriptionist will help me stay at home to personally take care and monitor my husband’s medical needs and be around to be on hand for my children’s’ needs and guardianship. I think that being a medical transcriptionist will also update me on the current advances and actual medical treatment that is going on all over the globe. I am now at the prime of my life and in due time I know I could no longer cope with the hassles and tensions associated with my profession and I think I could still contribute to the medical field by staying on as a medical transcriptionist. I could not afford the tuition fee needed for this course because our money here in peso is equivalent to 50 times in dollars. I have to save every penny that I earn from my career for everything that we need and with the present economic crisis going on, most of our patients bring their kids to the government hospitals and clinics. I could not go full time with my profession because there is nobody to take care of my husband and kids, so I just have my clinic hours in the mornings. I tried to go to a free school on medical transcriptionist here in our area but it has taken up too many hours off the house which I could not afford to do for now because of the aforementioned reasons. I heard that being a stay-at-home medical transcriptionist is a very rewarding career not only because I can do medical transcriptionist work at home at my own pace but also there is the possibility of having my own Medical Transcriptionist business in the future. I plan to encourage my kids and other co-workers to go into this business once I see how rewarding it will be to me and how it would help me plan my time, my finances and my family while I stay at home.

The Greatest Antidote To Personal Pain

Two months ago I lost my husband to cancer. While hospitalized, he suffered several seizures after being given medication previously noted to cause him an adverse reaction. Even though I have written many such stories during my career as a news writer, the consequences of medical mistakes became painfully real. I know firsthand, now, how critical it is to have fast, accurate medical transcriptions so healthcare workers can “get it right.” After nine months at my husband’s side, I saw how much time it takes doctors to decipher their notes and the notes of others, taking away from the already limited time they have with their patients. I would like very much to spare other patients and their loved ones the added suffering that comes from avoidable mistakes and wasted time. Bad enough to face whatever illness or accident has befallen them. But to then have to endure additional, unnecessary suffering not only compromises a patient’s chance of recovery but the relationships between that patient and family, doctors, nurses and other members of the care giving team. Fast, reliable medical transcribing could prevent such negative consequences… as well as head off the potential lawsuits and broken relationships that compromise patient care.

Now, since my husband died, I find work is the best escape from the grief. I have always found accomplishment the greatest antidote to personal pain. But because the news industry, like so many others, is slashing jobs, I now find my income and hours radically reduced. Even more than the financial need, I find the need to be more fully occupied and mentally engaged. I believe medical transcribing could meet both these needs, well. I have always wanted to be my own boss. I have a strong work ethic and like to work at my own pace, without the distractions of office politics and gossip. As the baby boomers age, the health care industry will clearly continue to grow. If I can learn to do medical transcription at home, I can work virtually around the clock, with complete focus and commitment… and the added bonus of company and comfort from my cats and rabbits. Of all the websites I explored, Future MT’s offer of unlimited support via phone and the internet during training, along with the Job Assistance Program for help finding medical transcriptionist work at home impressed me the most.  That and the chance of a scholarship to make it happen. I would like to not only become surpassingly accomplished at medical transcribing, but also enlist many of the good people with whom I have worked over the years in a medical transcribing business of my own. As the economy continues to struggle, many of my colleagues now find themselves on the sidelines, watching their jobs and savings evaporate. I want to assemble these talented colleagues in an enterprise that would earn us all a good living, and, even more importantly, the freedom and self respect of working for ourselves. I have had wonderful experiences putting teams together, before, to produce award winning news and magazine stories and shows. Now, with the loss of my dearest love and life’s partner of 30 years I would like to produce something more important than good TV…. good care for the sick and suffering.
