I Just Regret That I Didn’t Do More With My Life.
I am forty four years old and I live in Marksville Louisiana. I graduated with a GED in 1983. I never put it in my mind at the age of eighteen to further my education, because I was already married and had a child. I had to go to work to help support my family. As I got older, I had a lot of regrets about not furthering my education. Now at the age of forty four, I look back on my life and wish I would have done things differently. I don’t regret my life an my family, I just regret that I didn’t do more with my life. I should have gone to school, studied hard and made something of myself. I could have a good job right now instead of having to work two jobs just to make ends meet. I didn’t see that at the time. I was too young and I thought I knew it all. Boy was I wrong!
I am currently employed as a school bus driver and I do some substitute teaching on the side. I do love my job but I feel like I need to do more in my life. I heard about medical transcription through a friend of mine who is currently employed and doing well at it. I was told you could find work at home medical transcription jobs and this has interested me a lot. I could still keep my current job, which doesn’t require much of my time, early morning an afternoon. During the day I could do medical transcription at home. I still have two children at home and this would be an excellent opportunity for me because I wouldn’t have to leave them to go out and work. Being a single mom, this would be a great way to earn extra income to make ends meet, especially in today’s economy. SN:0MA9N2ESY
Going back to school is what is really fascinating me. I would love to be studying again, taking tests, reading, which is one of my favorite pass times. I substitute teach at my daughter’s school and I have learned a lot over the years. I think this would be a breeze for me. Once I finish this course, my intentions are to find a job and hopefully to make enough money so that I can just have one job instead of two. I struggle everyday with working two jobs, coming home, taking care of the house and my family. Having one job would be great. Who knows, maybe in a few years from now I could be working for several clients and I could make lots of money. This is something that I am really going to put my full concentration into whether I get a scholarship or not. My goal is to go back to school, get my degree and hopefully find good employment with a reputable company. I have been researching the internet and finding out that becoming a medical transcriptionist has many great opportunities. The pay is great, it’s something that I can do from the comfort of my home and I also found out that in years to come job opportunities for this field will be greatly needed.

I Can’t Work In A Normal Office, I Need To Work From Home
I chose to get into the field of Medical Transcription because I had a horseback riding accident in 2001 which left me unable to work in a normal office management setting which is something I have been doing for over 15 years. I have run an at home office service for the past few years, and the economy being the way it has been, work has been really slow. I have plenty of experience typing and editing several different types of office documents and I feel once I take the course to learn the medical transcriptionist lingo and everything else that is involved it would be something that I would be able to excel at.
The flexibility of being able to work from home and set your own hours is what draws me to this field the most. With the fact that I have a severe back injury and am not able to sit at a desk for a full eight hour day makes this field something that I feel I would have no problem adapting to and excelling at. I am only a few credits shy of getting my associates degree in computer science and I have over 15 years experience in office management which should go to show that I have no problem with working without supervision and I take quite a bit of pride in my ability to work without supervision and my ability to take charge and my organizational skills.
I chose the chance to be able to train with Future MT for several different reasons. One is the fact that I will be able to set my own schedule for training. I am able to work and devote a lot of time to my training being that I do stay home all day with no distractions. This will allow me to learn the right way which is to take my time learning everything and not to rush through the lessons just to get them done as fast as possible and not soak it all in. I also admire the fact that Future MT offers help finding medical transcription jobs after you complete your training, especially for the students who take the whole thing seriously and truly want to make medical transcription at home their main source of income.
I would like to take the chance to learn completely the things I need to know to be a medical transcriptionist and to truly take the time to fully learn them and not to try to skate through the lessons just to get them done. I like the fact that they offer the opportunity to cover the Part one of the process of becoming a medical transcriptionist and earn the credentials to be able to work and earn the two years experience to be able to get the final and part two of the total parts of earning the certification that will get your foot in the front door of many opportunities to either work for other companies or to be able to work for your own self and start your own business. I see myself devoting all of the time necessary to excel and complete the course no matter how much time it may take, and I see myself working for the full two years to gain the experience necessary to get my full certificate. The sky is the limit after that and I am ready to reach for the sky.

The Greatest Antidote To Personal Pain
Two months ago I lost my husband to cancer. While hospitalized, he suffered several seizures after being given medication previously noted to cause him an adverse reaction. Even though I have written many such stories during my career as a news writer, the consequences of medical mistakes became painfully real. I know firsthand, now, how critical it is to have fast, accurate medical transcriptions so healthcare workers can “get it right.” After nine months at my husband’s side, I saw how much time it takes doctors to decipher their notes and the notes of others, taking away from the already limited time they have with their patients. I would like very much to spare other patients and their loved ones the added suffering that comes from avoidable mistakes and wasted time. Bad enough to face whatever illness or accident has befallen them. But to then have to endure additional, unnecessary suffering not only compromises a patient’s chance of recovery but the relationships between that patient and family, doctors, nurses and other members of the care giving team. Fast, reliable medical transcribing could prevent such negative consequences… as well as head off the potential lawsuits and broken relationships that compromise patient care.
Now, since my husband died, I find work is the best escape from the grief. I have always found accomplishment the greatest antidote to personal pain. But because the news industry, like so many others, is slashing jobs, I now find my income and hours radically reduced. Even more than the financial need, I find the need to be more fully occupied and mentally engaged. I believe medical transcribing could meet both these needs, well. I have always wanted to be my own boss. I have a strong work ethic and like to work at my own pace, without the distractions of office politics and gossip. As the baby boomers age, the health care industry will clearly continue to grow. If I can learn to do medical transcription at home, I can work virtually around the clock, with complete focus and commitment… and the added bonus of company and comfort from my cats and rabbits. Of all the websites I explored, Future MT’s offer of unlimited support via phone and the internet during training, along with the Job Assistance Program for help finding medical transcriptionist work at home impressed me the most. That and the chance of a scholarship to make it happen. I would like to not only become surpassingly accomplished at medical transcribing, but also enlist many of the good people with whom I have worked over the years in a medical transcribing business of my own. As the economy continues to struggle, many of my colleagues now find themselves on the sidelines, watching their jobs and savings evaporate. I want to assemble these talented colleagues in an enterprise that would earn us all a good living, and, even more importantly, the freedom and self respect of working for ourselves. I have had wonderful experiences putting teams together, before, to produce award winning news and magazine stories and shows. Now, with the loss of my dearest love and life’s partner of 30 years I would like to produce something more important than good TV…. good care for the sick and suffering.
