How Luminox Watches Became Famous
Luminox watches are known by the self-powered illumination system that’s’s totally unique to them, and certain to last for aminimum of 10 years. To include this facility, Luminox watches bear further producing steps that no other watches in the world do. The history of Luminox is closely tied to this phenomenal feature of its watches.
Richard Timbo and Barry Cohen, 2 business chums who knew one another thru their career as sales members, were attempting to find creating a market thru branded products or exclusive technology that would place a barrier on competition. They found the Swiss company RMBG, which had a completely unique illumination technology, and recommended this technology be joined into Swiss watches, and got sole rights for the utilization of the technology in Northern America.
The new design watches, which were initially promoted using the name of the Swiss company, was shortly re-christened Luminox, a name highly suggestive of its unique illumination capabilities that had been derived from the Latin roots Lumi, meaning light, and nox meaning night.
The unknown kind of watches was still attempting to make a mark in acompetitive market that laid superb value by brand, when it changed into a break in the shape of a call from a US navy purchasing officer. In 1993 the company received an invite from the purchasing officer of the US Navy SEAL groups to provide it with aspecifically designed range of watches. The US navy’s Sea, Air and Land ( SEAL ) groups needed a dive watch to be used on their night missions.
Luminox took up the challenge and worked with its Swiss partner for 9 months before coming out with the initial Navy SEAL watch in 1994. This was a significant point in the history of Luminox watches. The mark of approval given by the SEAL improved the trustworthiness of the brand and boosted its image in the market. Requirement for the watches started to grow. The company started selling its plastic model Luminox watches.
After selling thousands of its plastic model watches for 5 years, the company introduced the first steel version, with carbon fiber bezel, in 1999. The steel version of the SEAL dive watches was an immediate success. From this, it was clear to the makers that if they could make the watches in bigger varieties and numbers, the market would absorb them. This spurred the company on to a growth drive and the will to introduce new models.
In the autumn of 2 thousand, the company came out with an all steel series and an all titanium series. The new launches were again met up with emphatic success, as the market gobbled up both the products. These series incorporated features that are found in what are thought to be fine watches, and included 10 year lithium batteries, sapphire glass crystals and anti reflective coating.
The company also developed a new version that was focused at special consumers adding freshness to its range. If the call from the US navy was a significant point in the history of Luminox watches, the Air force wasn’t to lag far behind. The company got a call in 1999 from the Edwards Air Force base informing them that they liked the watches produced by them, and want to have a version to be used during their bombing missions.
The duty was to develop something particularly for them, and not to provide or conform the version that was supplied to the Navy. This gave rise to a collection of watches that was invented to be utilized by F-117 Nighthawk stealth pilots.
Luminox after purchased rights to develop watches for the unique essentials of aviation industry. So was born another range of watches in the Luminox group. The company is now working on plans for new ranges of watches for meeting both the must haves of the Navy and the Air Force, and is also taking many measures to keep and consolidate its hold in the retail market.
